Heather Elwell was Miss Maine USA 2015

Miss Maine USA 2015 Heather Elwell lives and works at Down East Magazine in Portland, Maine. Growing up, she spent most of her time on a boat with her family in West Bath, ME. Heather has a love for the outdoors and two of her favorite hobbies include fishing and hiking. When warm weather is not around, Heather can be found performing one of her seven instruments. She was chosen as one of seven flautists to attend Florida State University’s College of Music where she obtained two college degrees in Music and Economics. She was on the drumline and performed at all football games. As a musician, she has traveled to over seven countries and one of her best performances was on The Great Wall of China in Beijing. She now actively volunteers at the Children’s Hospital to perform music as a type of therapy to children with cancer. A friend of hers once said, “Music is what feelings sound like,” and she plans to make sure that those around her feel joy as she gives back through music.
