A native of Kailua-Kona, Leimakamae Freitas was crowned Miss Hawaii Teen USA on 18 November 2018 and represented Hawaii at the Miss Teen USA 2019 pageant in Reno, Nevada. Leimakamae is a native Hawaiian who grew up only speaking the Hawaiian language until sixth grade. She comes from a family of musicians and has nurtured a deep passion for music, earning multiple awards in singing competitions.

Leimakamae’s love for language has inspired her to pursue a Ph.D. to become a Hawaiian Language professor. This 18-year-old comes from a family of musicians and has nurtured a deep passion for music, earning multiple awards in singing competitions. Leimakamae describes herself as proactive, funny and passionate, and has plans to start The Kākou Foundation to help bilingual high school students receive college scholarships.
