Miss Hawaii USA 2013 Brianna Acosta was born and raised in Waialua, a small plantation town on the north shore of O’ahu, Hawai`i. She graduated as the Valedictorian from Waialua High School, where she was named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and served as Senior Class President, President of the National Honor Society, and Captain and MVP of the girls’ varsity soccer team. She was a Chancellor Scholar and Dean’s List student at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science this past May.

Her charitable efforts include work with organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Read Aloud America and many more. The cause that is closest to her heart, is the promotion of education through her work as a mentor in the FIRST Robotics program. As a former “robotics nerd” herself, Brianna believes that the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) ideals taught to students through this program are what will lead them to solve many of the problems facing our world today.
