Semi-finalist Miss District of Columbia USA 2018
A native of New Albany, Alexis Lete was crowned Miss Indiana USA on 24 November 2019 and represented Indiana at the Miss USA 2020 pageant in Memphis, Tennessee where she became her state’s first top five finalist since 2002. Alexis has set a Guinness World Record for the farthest volleyball set into a basketball hoop.
After graduating from New Albany High School, where she was a two-sport varsity athlete competing in volleyball and swimming, Alexis Lete was awarded a full ride scholarship for athletics to The George Washington University. She has since graduated Cum Laude and did so in 3 and a half years. Alexis is currently a model, actress, creator, and still an athlete.
While in college, she was involved with Dreams for Kids DC where she taught kids with special needs about sports. She was able to give back to the community by writing letters for veterans; wrapping presents for underprivileged children; and making dog treats for dogs in shelters.
When ask what social cause meant the most to her, she replied, “Being a woman in the male dominated sports and entertainment world, I have recognized that women are not awarded the same opportunities as men. I am here to push the envelope and break the glass ceiling.” She sees herself, in the near future, having her own show that will give women the platform needed to elevate their careers in comedy and sports. Eventually, she will have her own non-profit organization that gives talks at high schools and colleges about female empowerment.
The on-stage moments, the tension of the final two and the glory of the crowning, here are Alexis’ state pageant photos.
Lights, camera, action! Professional photoshoots are one of the perks that comes from winning a title.
All beautiful things must come to an end, no matter how bittersweet. See Alexis’ farewell walk and other candids from the weekend she crowned her successor A’Niyah Birdsong as Miss Indiana USA 2021.
