A native of Fishers, Jinnie Tomes​ was crowned Miss Indiana Teen USA on 24 November 2019 and represented Indiana at the Miss Teen USA 2020 pageant in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a freshman at the University of Kentucky during her reign and graduated with a BA in Psychology in 2023. An advocate for diabetes awareness, Jinnie is proud to have been a keynote speaker at the 2017 American Diabetes Association meeting.
Miss Indiana Teen USA 2020 Jinnie Elise Tomes is an 18-year-old graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School and now a freshman at the University of Kentucky.
From Fishers, she was on the Dean’s List throughout her high school years, belonged to Project Lead the Way and is a member of the Royal Medical Club for aspiring doctors. She was a junior coach for the HSE/Fishers junior cheerleaders, and mentor for the Black Student Union. Other accomplishments include being an ISSMA Gold Medalist on violin for 2 consecutive years; earning 3 individual wins in track and field (1,200-meter dash and 2,100-meter dash) and she was an all-star cheerleader for 5 years.
Jinnie plans on becoming a psychiatrist who specializes in pediatrics. She also plans to help decrease the cases of diabetes through awareness and finding a cure. Diabetes has been a prevalent issue within her own family, and it is one of the most common causes of death within the United States. Jinnie is proud to have been a keynote speaker at the 2017 American Diabetes Association meeting.
