A native of Vernon, Sydney West was crowned Miss Connecticut Teen USA on 17 November 2013 and represented Connecticut at the Miss Teen USA 2014 pageant in the Bahamas. She is the sister of Miss Teen USA 2012 Logan West. After experiencing bullying, Sydney channeled her energy and became a “Unite Against Bullies Today Ambassador”.
Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2014 Sydney West is the younger sister of Miss Teen USA 2012 Logan West. Although Sydney has no prior USA system experience, she placed third runner-up at Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen 2012. Sydney, then Miss Southington’s Outstanding Teen, made many appearances with Logan before Logan won Miss Teen USA.
Sydney was bullied and forced to transfer for her senior year, leaving the teachers, friends, and environment she called home since 8th grade. Channeling her energy, Syd became a “Unite Against Bullies Today Ambassador”. Active in 17 states, UAB Today has reached over 800,000 students. At 15, she created “Girl Power” a presentation designed to empower girls to pursue academic, personal, and career choices of their dreams. She has interviewed 30 career professionals and included their personal stories in the “career” section of her website. The program has reached over 1500 girls. Sydney works closely with organizations such as Girl Scouts, YMCA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Connecticut Fallen Heroes. Sydney is excited to graduate this year; her future plans include a career as a newly signed MMG model, establishing a non-profit foundation and attending college to become a cardiac surgeon.
The on-stage moments, the tension of the final two and the glory of the crowning, here are Sydney’s state pageant photos.
