Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2013 Kendall Leary was introduced to theatre by her grandfather. She was part of the Meriden Youth Theatre, has studied multiple acting styles with the “Actor’s Gym”, and has performed in short films and plays throughout the state. Through competitive audition, Kendall was admitted to the “Center for Creative Youth” where she roomed at Wesleyan University for five weeks in an intensive acting conservatory. In high school, Kendall was the host of her school’s show, “Zone 203.” She will continue her studies in a BFA program at Marymount Manhattan College and would like to minor in Creative Writing.
As a child, she hoped to become the first girl to play for the New York Mets. Kendall is a four-season athlete. She has played cross country, basketball, soccer, baseball, and fencing. With her church, she has volunteered her time to mission work with an organization called UMARMY, which maintains houses and landscapes of individuals who are unable to do these chores themselves. She also participates in mid-night runs to NYC handing out food and clothing to the homeless.
She has worked closely with the Special Olympics of Connecticut, Autism Speaks, Unite Against Bullies, The USO, and D.A.R.T. (Fun Fact, at this years gala event for “D.A.R.T”, Kendall had the wonderful opportunity to sing onstage with one of her favorite bands, the Beach Boys!) For the past two years, Kendall has worked as a Carhop at Sonic. Since being there, she has received “Employee of the Month” twice and has modeled for Sonic billboards and menus across the state. Kendall Leary likes to attend Mother-Daughter book club, debate with her constitutional-law class, and snowboard with her family.
