Later Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2022
A native of Kissimmee, Ashley Cariño Barreto was crowned Miss Florida USA 2021 on 3 July 2022 and represented Florida at Miss USA 2022 in Reno Nevada. Ashley is passionate about STEM education and has studied aerospace engineering. She later won the Miss Puerto Rico Universe title and went on to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2022, making the top five.
From a very young age, Miss Florida USA 2021 Ashley Cariño Barreto demonstrated a passion for sciences, falling in love with anything STEM-related, and becoming involved in various STEM clubs and programs throughout her educational years. Ashley was able to graduate with a minor degree in architecture and several technical certifications. From there she moved on to study at the University of Central Florida, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Being the eldest of 5, Ashley has always been aware of the impact that role models have in today’s growing generation, so she has strived to become the best role model she can be, for her siblings and those around her. Ashley has focused on helping children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses find coping skills and passions through STEM programs and activities in her community. She hopes to inspire those around her to be themselves and believe in who they are and what they can accomplish.
