Miss Florida Teen USA 2015 Jara Courson is a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and descendant of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, making her the first Native American to win Miss Florida Teen USA. Education is of the utmost importance to Jara. She graduated with her Associates Degree through dual enrollment, two weeks before graduating high school. Jara was a four-year varsity volleyball starter. Throughout her four years, she was team captain, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player and was nominated for the Gainesville Sun’s Player of the Year. Jara’s dad and brother are professional cowboys. Jara has grown up in rodeo, having participated in every event from team roping to chute dogging and still enjoys riding her dad’s colts in her leisure time. Depending on upcoming opportunities, Jara plans to pursue a career in either acting, modeling or law.
