Miss Virginia Teen USA 2023 Ashley Wang lives in Herndon and is a sophomore at Oakton High School. In the future, she aspires to study biochemistry and become a cosmetic chemist.

Ashley has been a competitive dancer since she was five and is part of two nationally ranked dance teams. Dancing has taught her the importance of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

Ashley helps manage her school’s student-led tutoring organization, where she has received training to tutor a diverse range of students, such as AVID (aspiring first-gen college students), ESOL (Non-native English speakers), Honors, and AP level courses. This experience has allowed her to work with individuals from various backgrounds and has shown her the value of communication, teamwork, and leadership. As a result, her main goal is to bridge the gap between adults and students and to facilitate communication to ensure a successful learning experience for everyone. Additionally, as a Chinese American, she aims to promote cultural awareness and understanding and celebrate the unique diversity in our society.

As Miss Virginia Teen USA, Ashley wants to be an authentic and genuine role model. Her focus is on reminding people to prioritize progression over perfection. She hopes to inspire young people to believe in themselves and their dreams and to always stay true to who they are.
