Sydney Jaiswal was crowned Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2021 on 8 August 2021 and represented Rhode Island at the Miss Teen USA 2021 pageant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sydney, a first-generation American of Indian and Italian descent, was born in California and moved to Rhode Island as a child. After recovering from an eating disorder, Sydney has become an advocate for mental health and eating disorders.
Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2021 Sydney Jaiswal is a 17-year-old first-generation American of Indian and Italian descent from Palo Alto California. She moved to Rhode Island when she was three years old.
After moving to Rhode Island she attended the Henry Barnard school up until fifth grade. At that point, Sydney and her parents made a tough decision, to send her to The Wheeler School in Providence, for fifth grade. She ended up loving the school and has been there ever since. Sydney is a senior and is thrilled to be a member of the class of 2022!
After graduating high school in May of 2022, Sydney plans on going to college to major in pre-law. She would then love to attend Harvard Law School and fulfill her dream of becoming a Corporate Lawyer.
In 2020 Sydney developed an eating disorder that caused her many health complications. She realized what she was putting her body and mind through and decided to take it upon herself to get better. She went through school therapy sessions when she realized that she wasn’t treating her body right and a few months later started her journey of getting healthy. After a full recovery, she realized she loved helping girls in similar situations. Sydney is now an advocate for mental health and eating disorders. She’s helped many of her friends who suffer from the same issues. Sydney has used her platform on social media to share her experiences and bring awareness to the importance of mental and physical health.
During Sydney’s free time she enjoys playing softball, dancing, and collecting stamps. Sydney has been dancing for 14 years and has been playing softball for 10 years. Sydney enjoys volunteering at Special Olympics Rhode Island, which gives children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and offers a safe space for them to thrive while bettering their physical and mental health. Along with that, Sydney volunteers at her dance studio teaching and mentoring the younger girls.
Sydney is excited about her journey to Miss Teen USA and to have her family, friends, and supporters by her side. She is beyond honored to be representing the smallest state of Rhode Island at Miss Teen USA. Sydney plans on doing everything in her power during her reign as Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2021 to bring awareness to eating disorders and end the stigma around them.
