A native of South Windsor, Nikitha Kikanamada was crowned Miss Connecticut Teen USA on 6 June 2021 and represented Connecticut at the Miss Teen USA 2021 pageant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nikitha is a college student at Quinnipiac University pursuing nursing. She is a first generation Indian American and plans to bring the vibrancy of the Indian culture to her reign as Miss Connecticut Teen USA.
Nikitha is a college student at Quinnipiac University pursuing a nursing major, a psychology minor, and a global public health minor. After her undergrad, she hopes to match with a neonatal program so she can work in the NICU. Kikanamada also plans on going back to school to earn her Masters of Science in Nursing to work as an APRN or a Nurse Practitioner.
Kikanamada is a first generation Indian American and plans to bring the vibrancy of the Indian culture to her reign as Miss Connecticut Teen USA. She is an advocate for mental health awareness after being diagnosed with anxiety and depression in 2019 and hopes to neutralize the negative stigmas surrounding mental wellness. She started an Instagram account called More for Myself to share her story as well as others’ stories in order to normalize conversation regarding mental health. As a representative of the South Asian community, Kikanamada knows how taboo it is to speak up about mental health issues, so she hopes to educate people on the stereotypes for mental health and how we as a society can work together to change this.
