March 2023
1st runner-up 2023
Mariluz Cook placed first runner-up at the Miss Utah USA pageant and assumed the Miss Utah USA 2023 title after Noelia Voigt won Miss USA. Mariluz is a sports broadcaster serving as host for the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend, NBA’s Utah Jazz, and ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies. A Cuban-American, she was the first to announce the starting lineups in Spanish for the Jazz, Grizzlies and MiLB’s Salt Lake Bees. This was her first year competing in the USA system but she has previously competed for many years at Miss Florida (America).
A familiar face across the state of Utah, Mariluz Cook is a sports broadcaster serving as host for the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend, NBA’s Utah Jazz, ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies, sports anchor and sideline reporter for KSL 5 TV, sideline reporter, halftime show host, and producer for Athletes Unlimited’s 2023 Basketball Season in Dallas, Texas, and the reigning Miss Utah USA 2023.
Significantly, the Cuban-American stands as the inaugural individual to announce the starting lineups in Spanish for the NBA’s Utah Jazz, ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies, and MiLB’s Salt Lake Bees.
Aside from storytelling in front of the camera, she has proudly produced FCS ALL-IN, the premiere show dedicated to Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision Coverage which aired on ESPN+ weekly. She also formerly served as the very first Director of Broadcast and Digital Media for the Big Sky Conference where she told the league’s stories as the primary on-camera host, reporter, and producer.Â

Mariluz was officially crowned Miss Utah USA 2023 by Miss Utah USA 2022 Maddie Jonely – who herself had received a post-Miss USA crowning there earlier in the year!
Lights, camera, action! Professional photoshoots are one of the perks that comes from winning a title.
All beautiful things must come to an end, no matter how bittersweet. See Mariluz’s farewell walk and other candids from the weekend she crowned her successor Alyssa Chandler as Miss Utah USA 2024.
