A native of Houma, Sylvia Masters was crowned Miss Louisiana USA on 4 February 2023 and will go on to represent Louisiana at the Miss USA pageant later this year. Sylvia is a morning anchor and reporter for KLFY News 10 in Lafayette covering news and events that affect Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana.
Sylvia Masters is a native of Houma, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism.
While studying at Nicholls, she worked at HTV10 in Houma, hosting shows and reporting for local events around the community, including “Saints On The Bayou.” One of her shows was “The Woman Factor with Sylvia Masters,” which focused on discussing topics and issues that directly influence women of all ages.
Sylvia also interned for WAFB (CBS) in Baton Rouge and WGNO (ABC) in New Orleans.
Currently, she is the morning anchor and reporter for KLFY News 10 in Lafayette covering news and events that affect Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana.
She credits her love for journalism by believing everyone has a story to share.
Sylvia is also an accomplished musician. She sings and plays the piano for weddings, funerals, and social events. She especially enjoys singing the National Anthem at sporting events and has competed in pageants for the last 13 years.

Sylvia won the title on her sixth attempt. She was a semi-finalist three times, then third runner-up in 2021 and second runner-up in 2022.
