Kirby Elizabeth Self was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2018 on 18 November 2017 and represented South Carolina at the Miss Teen USA 2018 pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she placed first runner-up. A freshman at Clemson during her reign, she was a track star who had held titles in triple jump and hurdles and competed at the AAU Junior Olympics.
Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2018 Kirby Elizabeth Self is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Furman and Kay Self from Greenwood, South Carolina. She is a Freshman attending Clemson University majoring in Language and International Trade with a double minor in Business Administration and Non-Profit Leadership. She is a member of the Clemson Water Ski Team, Women’s Chorus and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She enjoys sports and is our current State 3A Triple Jump Champion, the 2016 State 400 Meter Hurdle Champion and the 2013 2A SCISA Triple Jump Champion.
Through her love for helping others, Kirby is passionate about promoting youth leadership through volunteerism and working with people that have physical and mental disabilities. She was honored to be named a two-time recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, The Better Business Bureau’s Student of Integrity Award, The Young Entrepreneurs Award and attend Palmetto Girls State.
Kirby’s interesting facts include: she loves inventing and has been granted a provisional patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for her invention; flying airplanes and is currently earning her private pilot’s license; she has competed in the AAU Junior Olympics and walked the runway for several New York fashion designers. During her reign, Kirby’s goal is to make South Carolina proud by creating positive change through inspiring creative minds, and compassionate hearts.
