Born in Louisville, Kentucky to a large Lebanese family, Miss Kentucky USA 2015 Katie George grew up following in the footsteps of her two brothers. She developed a passion for sports and has always dreamed of being a sports broadcaster. In high school, she played for a nationally recognized volleyball program, which won two state championships and catapulted her collegiate career as an NCAA Division I athlete. She developed a pulmonary embolism due to a blood clotting disorder, casting doubt on her athletic future. With perseverance, she was able to play her senior year. Her comeback quickly became a national story as she became the Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year and Prep Volleyball’s National Player of the Year. Last summer, she had the honor of representing her country as a member of the USA Collegiate National Team and interned for CBS Sports Network in New York City. She will graduate college in three years with a degree in Communications and pursue a Master’s Degree this coming fall.
