A native of Jefferson City, Shelby Welling was crowned Miss Missouri Teen USA on 16 June 2024 and represented Missouri at the Miss Teen USA pageant in Hollywood, California. After being diagnosed with scoliosis at age 13 and going through treatment, Shelby has become passionate about raising awareness about scoliosis and helping other kids feel better about their diagnosis.
Miss Missouri Teen USA 2024 Shelby Welling is a 2024 graduate of Capital City High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. She is a 4-time varsity golf letterman, qualified for state twice, and served as the team captain her senior year. Shelby has developed her own non-profit organization called, “Embrace the Curve,” dedicated to raising awareness and education for scoliosis as well as providing support to patients nationally.
She has donated over 200 braced stuffed animals to children wearing scoliosis braces, thousands of care kits through 15 partnering hospitals, and has raised $15,000 dollars between 2 golf tournaments for her cause. With a passion for travel, she has been to 7 different countries and is a certified scuba diver with 30 recorded dives. Also, sharing her love for anything and everything beach related, she enjoys experiencing other cultures.
In the fall, she will be attending Central Methodist University on a golf and academic scholarship and plans on studying nursing to pursue her RN degree.
