Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2014 Vaeda Mann is a junior at Oak Grove High School and attends Temple Baptist Church. At Oak Grove she achieves straight As in academics as well as being a member of BETA, the Jr. Civitan Club, Diamond Girls, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and student council. She also enjoys playing on the warriors’ volleyball and tennis team. One of her strongest beliefs lies in the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. She absolutely loves to dance, run and participate in kickboxing as well as yoga.
She is also a strong believer in the importance of giving back to her community. Just a few of the campaigns that she has worked on in the past include Christian Services which offers an opportunity to serve the underprivileged and share the Bible with those less fortunate, “Spread the Word to End the Word” which has been adopted by the students of Oak Grove High School to promote the mentally challenged community, and the “Crown C.A.R.E.S.” which is a program that spreads awareness of anti-bullying. This cause is especially close to her heart because of her own childhood experiences with suffering from low self-esteem. She understands from personal experience how devastating bullying can be to undermine one’s self-confidence. Unfortunately, bullying among children and even adults has grown into such an epidemic in our society but she is very passionate about speaking and spreading awareness of this problem to combat the issue.
Aside from sports and extracurricular activities, she also enjoys attempting to cook, creative writing, painting and modeling. She has been blessed with the opportunity to model for Susan’s Shoppe and Fetiche Shoe Boutique and she hopes to continue pursuing a career in front of the camera. For the past two years, she has also worked in prom and pageant sales at Susan’s Shoppe, where she has fallen in love with the feeling that comes from helping a girl find her dream dress that makes her truly feel beautiful. Another passion of hers is traveling. Not only has she enjoyed visiting many of our states in America, she has also had the privilege of traveling to Costa Rica, Panama and Belize. Her dream is to be able to travel the world someday and she strongly believes in taking every possible opportunity to follow your dreams.
