A native of Gladstone, Miss Michigan Teen USA 2014 Iris Robare represented Michigan at the Miss Teen USA 2014 pageant in Atlantis, Bahamas. She is one of very few titleholders from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Iris has since been commissioned as an officer in the Marine Corps, where she serves alongside her husband.
Iris Robare is a junior at Gladstone High School where she is on the honor roll, a member of National Honor Society, in student council, and is a 3 year member of Youth in Government. She is also on the varsity track and cross country team and holds a number of school records.
Iris is focused on obtaining a career as either a teacher or lobbyist focusing on mental health policies and she represented the Upper Peninsula at the 2014 state conference for the position of Youth Governor. One of her passions is spreading knowledge and awareness of mental health issues in teens. She believes there is a stigma against mental illness and that many teens feel alone in their thoughts and feelings when they believe they are different for a negative reason. She wants to help teens feel empowered to overcome whatever their biggest worry or fear is in life, so they do not feel the need to hide their problems for an overall sense of belonging.
Iris has been a student of ballet for 7 years.
