A native of Overland Park, Melanie Shaner was crowned Miss Kansas USA 2018 on 27 November 2017 and represented Kansas at the Miss USA 2018 pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana. Melanie is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication. She will appear on the second season of Farmer Wants a Wife in 2024.
Miss Kansas USA 2018 Melanie Shaner was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas where she grew up in a small, close family. Melanie is a student at the University of Kansas pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication. She is an advocate for victims of domestic violence and frequently volunteers for a local domestic violence shelter. In her free time, Melanie loves doing pilates and walking her two dogs. She is honored to represent her home state of Kansas at Miss USA, and would continue her advocacy for domestic violence awareness and prevention if she wins the crown.
