This year we returned to a cut after top 20:
This was Colorado’s first placement since Marybel Gonzalez also made the top 10 in 2012, and with both resplendent in red! Massachusetts placed for the first time since 2018. Hawaii and Texas have now made the cut six times in ten years, and Virginia five times.
The top 20 semi-finalists who competed in swimsuit but did not progress to evening gown were:
Kenzie Hansley gave North Carolina their first ever string of four consecutive placements and Grace Rodi gave Illinois their first string of five placements since the 1980s-90s. California, District of Columbia and Illinois have placed in seven of the last ten years, Nevada and North Carolina six times and South Carolina five times.
On the flip side, McKenzie Kerry’s placement for Iowa is just their fourth in the 2000s,
Alma Cooper, from Okemos, Michigan, graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point, in the top 5% of her class, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical science. She serves as a 2nd lieutenant and Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army.
After graduating from West Point, she was awarded the opportunity to earn her Masters in Data Science at Stanford University as a Knight Hennessy Scholar.
Alma is passionate about elevating the voices of underrepresented minorities through data science and addressing food insecurity in our country, and globally. Her ultimate goal is to make healthy foods available to all people. Alma’s life motto is “Demand Excellence” which she inherited from her parents who forged a path toward their American Dream. She is honored to ask to serve as Miss USA.
