Makenzie Falcon is 19 years old and was born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She spent her high school career as a proud member of Central High School's show choir program, as well as the school's honorary A Capella choir. Additionally, Makenzie began to involve herself in the political process during these years- she volunteered at a local campaign office and attended the American Legion Auxilary's Girls State program, where she was then one of two girls selected to represent South Dakota in Washington D.C. at Girls Nation. There, Makenzie had the opportunity to meet with the South Dakota state senators and representative, as well as President Barack Obama.

In the fall of 2015, Makenzie moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to pursue her dreams of working in the field of immigration law and someday serving as a U.S. senator. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she is double majoring in Political Science and Global Studies with a minor in Human Rights & Humanitarian Affairs. She is also a member of the Honors Program and the Pre-Law Program.

Makenzie was South Dakota's first semi-finalist since 1989!
