A native of Mason, Miss West Virginia USA 2017 Lauren Roush represented West Virginia at the Miss USA 2017 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. A passionate educator, Lauren completed a dual degree from the 5 Year Teacher Education Program at West Virginia University, receiving her Bachelor’s of English and Master’s of Education. Her greatest achievement is being an inspiration to young people in her community and state.
Miss West Virginia USA 2017 Lauren Roush is enrolled at WVU and is pursuing a dual degree from the 5 Year Teacher Education Program, receiving her Bachelor’s of English and Master’s of Education. She takes 13 credit hours of courses and student teaches 12 hours a week, and recently passed her Praxis II certification exam. Small town life led Lauren to seek out big adventures, which have included skydiving over Red Rock Canyon, snorkeling the Great Coral Reef and playing in the snow of the Andes Mountains. Lauren’s appreciation of life and its blessings is rooted in her humble, modest upbringing. Lauren’s family was created because of a teenage pregnancy, and through hard work and education, Roush’s young parents provided a loving, stable home while simultaneously pursuing professional career aspirations. The powerful impact of education on her own family inspired Lauren to be a teacher and advocate for comprehensive reproductive health education. Her greatest achievement is being an inspiration to young people in her community and state.
