Non-finalist 2016, 4th runner-up Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2015
A native of Edison, Chhavi Verg was crowned Miss New Jersey USA 2017 on 16 October 2016 and represented New Jersey at the Miss USA 2017 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chhavi is multilingual and can speak four languages — English, Hindi, Spanish, and Mandarin. She gave New Jersey their highest placement since 1991.
Miss New Jersey USA 2017 Chhavi Verg was the second Indian-American to win the Miss New Jersey USA title. She graduated from John P. Stevens High School in 2015 and is currently in her second year at Rutgers University studying Marketing and Spanish. At Rutgers, Chhavi is a Marketing Assistant Director at the Rutgers University Programming Association (RUPA), an organization that plans, markets, and executes up to 200 events for the entire Rutgers community, and is a member of Women BUILD, a leadership program designed to provide high achieving, motivated and talented women undergraduates at Rutgers Business School the opportunity to reach their full leadership potential.
Outside of school, Chhavi enjoys learning languages, dancing, and enriching her life through good health. She is multilingual and can speak four languages—English, Hindi, Spanish, and Mandarin. Chhavi is also a trained Bharatanatyam (Indian classical) dancer and performed her Arangetram (a solo on-stage performance that marks the culmination of training) after 12 years of training. In addition, Chhavi enjoys fitness and living a healthy life. She is an ISSA certified personal trainer and recently started her own vegan/vegetarian health and fitness company to urge others to care for their health both physically and mentally.
Chhavi is extremely passionate about giving back to her community and her community service involvement continues to expand. She is a strong proponent of woman’s equality, empowerment, and education. Chhavi lives her life by this motto: “Dream big and no matter what anyone else says, always believe in yourself and your vision. Life is limitless and the only limits that exist are the ones you create in your head. Be sincere, give it your all, and never lose grit…that’s the key to making your dreams a reality.”
