Miss Idaho Teen USA 2012

1st runner-up at Miss USA 2020

A native of Nampa, Kim Layne was crowned Miss Idaho USA on 27 October 2019 and represented Idaho at the Miss USA 2020 pageant in Memphis, Tennessee where she placed first runner-up, equalling Idaho’s previous highest placement. Kim has a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a Masters in Public Health from Washington State University.

By placing first runner-up at Miss USA 2020, Kim had the honour of equalling Idaho’s highest placement at Miss USA, set by Brandi Sherwood in 1997. Unfortunately COVID-19 forced a socially distanced final two, which meant that she and Asya didn’t get the traditional moment while they waited for the announcement of the winner.

The on-stage moments, the tension of the final two and the glory of the crowning, here are Kim’s state pageant photos and video.

Professional photos

Lights, camera, action!  Professional photoshoots are one of the perks that comes from winning a title.

Candid & Appearance photos

From events straight after her crowning to her final appearances before she passes on her crown, here’s a look at all the appearances Kim made during her reign, as well as other candid photos during her year.

Previous pageant photos

Two years competing in Idaho & two titles… here’s a look back at Kim’s previous pageant photos at Miss Idaho Teen USA 2012 and her national photos from Miss Teen USA 2012.

Farewell photos

See Kim’s farewell walk and other candids from the weekend she crowned her successor Katarina Schweitzer as Miss Idaho USA 2021 – unusually, due to COVID-19, this was in two months before she competed at Miss USA.  Kim missed returning to crown her Teen successor as she was attending Cornell at the time, so I’m sure this was a special moment for her.

After the crown

Winning a state title is a sisterhood for life. Here are Kim’s “after the crown” photos.
