A Georgia native who resided in Auburn, AL during her reign, Kelly Hutchinson was crowned Miss Alabama USA on 5 October 2019 and represented Alabama at the Miss USA 2020 pageant in Memphis, Tennessee. A graduate of Auburn with a degree in Communication, Kelly went on to study law at George Washington University.
Growing up, Kelly always had a passion for performing. At just 3 years old, she signed with a modeling agency and was featured in numerous national commercial and print campaigns. She was a competitive dancer for 12 years and trained every day after school growing up. Weekends were always spent touring with dance competitions either competing with her studio or working as a convention assistant with some of the most well known choreographers in the dance world. Kelly later achieved her dream of dancing at the collegiate level at both Auburn University football and basketball games as a member of the Auburn Tiger Paws Dance Team.
Kelly discovered her passion for volunteering for the American Cancer Society after her father was diagnosed with Larynx cancer when she was just 10 years old. She turned her initial confusion into compassion and her early anger into action for a cure. Her father ultimately lost his battle with cancer in 2013 and she hopes that one day, no child will lose a parent to this horrible disease. She currently is working on creating an organization for children that have a parent battling cancer. She wants to provide children with an opportunity to share their feelings and receive support from others who understand what they are going through.Kelly has a passion for experiencing and learning about new cultures which she has been able to cultivate through traveling. She was blessed to have spent two summers while earning her undergraduate degree studying abroad. She studied Spanish in the capital of Spain, Madrid, while also living with a host family. She later studied global culture and international business in Rome, Italy. During her lifetime she has traveled to 20 countries and hopes to visit many more!Kelly is proud to say she graduated from Auburn University in December of 2019 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Marketing, Summa Cum Laude. It was her dream to attend Auburn University after her very first visit to the campus, which was to attend her older brother’s first football game as a member of the Auburn Football Team. Kelly said Auburn was the best environment for her to grow as a person and has provided her with so many opportunities to develop as a leader. She held numerous leadership positions within Auburn Panhellenic and Auburn Athletics. During her time at Auburn, she was also a member of four prestigious honor societies. She has spent the past year preparing for and taking the LSAT and plans to attend law school next fall.
