Malulani is currently a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she hopes to become a bioengineer to help Hawaii's agricultural development to become more sustainable and self-reliant to minimize the need to rely on imported goods. This was her first time competing at Miss Hawaii Teen USA but she has competed in several other pageants and is a former Miss Hawaii High School America.
