With only one state pageant this coming weekend and seven the next I've decided to get a head start - first up is South Carolina. The new SC titleholders will be crowned on Saturday the 21st, webcast at www.pageantvision.com. Miss contestant photos are here and Teen here. Contestant numbers in both divisions are fairly steady, however it's sad to note that the Teen division has dropped about 40% from their numbers between 2007-2009.

Miss
South Carolina has a strong history of crowning former Teen winners and contestants - Anna Hanks (03), Lacie Lybrand (06), Ashley Zais (07), Jamie Hill (08), Rachel Law (2010) and Courtney Turner (2011) were all past Teen runners-up or semi-finalists, while Sarah Medley (Miss SC Teen USA 2001/Miss SC USA 2005) and Megan Pinckney (Miss SC Teen USA 2010/Miss SC USA 2013) are just two of SC's crossover titleholders. The 2016 pageant will continue this tradition with many strong Teen runners-up - and a former Miss SC Teen USA & Miss Teen USA first runner-up - back for a shot at the Miss title this year. All three of the other RPM state pageants this year, in LA, NC and AL have crowned either a former Teen runner-up or winner.
The former Teen is of course none other than Tori Sizemore, Miss SC Teen USA 2013 and first runner-up to Cassidy Wolf at Miss Teen USA. She placed in the top ten at Miss South Carolina (MAO) over the summer. Tori's first runner-up Katie Mode and first runner-up to Miss Teen USA K Lee Graham in 2014, Blythe Neal, are both competing in the Miss division this year (Blythe was also T10 in Teen 2015). There is also Karson Terrill, 3RU last year and top 10 in 2014, Sydney Long, T15 in Teen last year and Courtney Cox, T10 in Teen 2008.
The only returning runner-up from Miss SC USA 2015 is second runner-up Jordyn Fox. There are plenty of semi-finalists competing, from the top ten Neicey Baxter, Melissa Turbeville (4RU in 2012) and Morgan Brown and from the top sixteen, Clarka Wickliffe and Lindsey Lambrakos.

Teen
In the Teen division two-time runner-up Marley Stokes is back - she was first runner-up last year and also one of Tori Sizemore's runners-up in 2013 (we could have a repeat of Arkansas). Of the three previous RPM state pageants this year both NC and AL crowned their 2015 first runner-up whilst Louisiana's finished 1RU again, will be interesting to see if that trend holds true for SC. Last year's second runner-up Charley Manley is also competing, as is 2014 fourth runner-up Paige Holloway who was top fifteen last year.
Other returning semi-finalists are Kate Geib and Mallory Watson (both top ten), and Kaliandra Turner, Kelsi Fringer and Jordyn Rogge (top fifteen). Of last year's top fifteen, eleven are back this year in either the Miss or Teen division.
2014 Vermont second runner-up Alacey German is competing in SC for the first time - she will be one of two former VT contestants competing in Teen pageants this weekend.
I can't wait to see whether we get more of the truly unique gowns that we saw last year!
