There are 40 Miss contestants, down 15 on last year, but similar to numbers from 2009-2014. In Teen there are 64 contestants, down only slightly compared to last year's pageant but still a far cry from 2011 when there were only 27 Teen contestants!
There are two Miss Teen USA state titleholders competing this year. One is Miss MO Teen USA 2014 Samantha Bowers, who was a semi-finalist at Miss Missouri over the summer and will be only the second 2014 Teen to compete in a USA state pageant. The other former Teen is Alexa Zellers, Miss Arizona Teen USA 2012, who is using her titleholder scholarship to attend Lindenwood University and who is competing in Miss for the first time.
From last year's top five there are first runner-up Bayleigh Dayton, and second runner-up Tori Kruse. The Teen group is largely made up of newcomers, however three of last year's runners-up are back this year.
