The first of four pageants being held this weekend, Miss Mississippi USA & Teen USA 2019 finals will be held at the Horsehoe Hotel & Casino in Tunica, Mississippi with finals being held on Saturday at 4pm CST. Both prelims & finals will be webcast at www.pageantslive.com/.
Miss contestants are posted here and Teen is posted here. It's nice to see contestant numbers holding up with 26 in each division - Miss is up four on last year.
All four of the Miss MS USA 2018 runners-up are returning - a first for the 2019 pageant season! They are 1st runner-up Rachel Pearl Jackson, 2nd runner-up Acacia McBride (also 2nd runner-up in 2017 & in Teen in 2015), 3rd runner-up Ivy White (a semi-finalist in 2016 & 2017) and fourth runner-up Jacqueline Shepley. Regan Ringler, 4th runner-up in 2017 and a non-finalist last year, is also competing again. Two former Teen first runners-up Hailey White (1RU 17) - sister of Ivy! - and Madeleine Overby (1RU 16, also a past Alabama Teen semi-finalist for 3 years) are competing in Miss for the first time. Three-time Arkansas runner-up Kyndal Hayes, who was also 3RU at Miss TN Teen USA 2010, has suddenly appeared on the contestant roster - I swear she wasn't there when the contestants were first posted yesterday! This will be her first time competing in Mississippi.
Other returning Miss semi-finalists are Maddi Lambert and Malory Williams (2018), Katie Nelson (2016), Kaitlyn Orth (2015 & 2016).
Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2012 Molly May is competing in the USA system for the first time after placing as a runner-up at Miss Mississippi (MAO) in 2016 and as a semi-finalist in 2017 & 2018. She was fourth runner-up to Rachel Wyatt at Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2013.
It's been 13 years since Mississippi crowned a newcomer - Kendra King in 2006 - so it will be interesting to see if one of the many newbies can break through this year!
