Congratulations to Miss Maryland USA 2017 Adrianna David and Miss Maryland Teen USA 2017 Taylor Spruill. Both competed in the 2016 pageant with Adrianna placing second runner-up and Taylor making the semi-finals. Adrianna is 22 and from Rockville, and Taylor is 18 and from Upper Marlboro. According to my records they are the first winners from their hometowns (in each division).
Adrianna is just the second returning Maryland runner-up to win in the past eight years (the other is her predecessor Christina Denny). Taylor is the third consecutive returning contestant to win the Teen title.

In the Miss competition, all five finalists had previously been a runner-up in Maryland or another state USA pageant - three were former MD Teen runners-up. First runner-up Brittinay Nicolette was most recently third runner-up in Virginia in 2015, but was also a Teen runner-up in Maryland in 2009 & 2010. Second runner Galienne Gilmer was competing in her first Miss pageant after being a semi-finalist in Teen last year and fourth runner-up in Teen in 2015. Antonia Gore who placed third runner-up was also third runner-up in Pennsylvania last year, has also competed in Georgia and was a semi-finalist at Miss MD Teen USA 2009. Fourth runner-up went to Kathleen Masek, twice a runner-up at Miss MD USA and twice at Miss MD Teen USA. Between the five of them, the finalists had competed 17 times previously!
Among the semi-finalists was last year's fourth runner-up Chelsea Boone and 2014 Pennsylvania semi-finalist Gretchen Schoeck. Chelsea won her second consecutive Photogenic award. The rest of the top 16 were newcomers.
The Teen competition had very few returning contestants this year. There were only three returning semi-finalists from last year (no runners-up) and all three made the top fifteen again this time. In addition to winner Taylor Spruill, second runner-up Louise Daniel and semi-finalist Megan Goins were the only returning contestants in the top fifteen.
