Madeleine attends the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and is originally from Dothan, Alabama. She was a semi-finalist three years in a row in Alabama before moving to Mississippi and placing first runner-up at Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2016. Her predecessor Laine Mansour was first runner-up at Miss MS Teen USA 2015, which means that consecutive MS Teen USA first runners-up have now won consecutive Miss MS USA titles!
Kaylee Brooke is only the second titleholder from Amory - the other was Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2003 Krisi Nash. She was a semi-finalist at Miss MS Teen USA last year and like Miss MS Teen USA 2018 has previously competed at Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen. No Miss Mississippi Teen USA runner-up has won Miss MS Teen USA since 2006 (!) but Kaylee Brooke is the fourth semi-finalist to return and win in that time.
Among the top 13 were 2018 first runner-up Rachel Pearl Jackson and Acacia McBride who was second runner-up at Miss MS USA the past two years and also at Miss MS Teen USA 2016 when Madeleine was first runner-up. Seven-time Miss & Teen contestant Kyndal Hayes was competing in her first Mississippi pageant and also made the top 13. Other semi-finalists were Miss MS Teen USA 2017 first runner-up Hailey White (who knows, she might win next year and continue the consecutive Teen 1RU to Miss MS USA trend!), 2016 semi-finalist Katie Nelson, two-time Teen non-finalist Allyssa Weyant and newcomers Kerrie Blakeney and Sadie Wilson.
There were some notable omissions in the top 13 this year, I was shocked not to see last year's third runner-up Ivy White and Miss MS' Outstanding Teen 2012 and past Miss Mississippi (MAO) runner-up Molly May (who did win the Congeniality award). Hopefully we might see them back next year and like Regan this year, returning to the top five!
First runner-up in the Teen pageant was Helen McDougald, who was second runner-up last year and like Kaylee Brooke is a previous Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen contestant. Second runner-up was Alanha Dukes who has an amazing story. She has undergone four brain surgeries and two surgeries on her spinal cord since 2013 and in 2016 was given a Make a Wish experience of meeting a group of Miss USA & Teen USA 2016 contestants and Miss Teen USA 2015 Katherine Haik at the MUO office in New York City. She was recently Miss Junior Teen United States. Third runner-up went to Miss Photogenic winner and 2017 fourth runner-up Annie Grace Gibson, and newcomer Zoe Bigham was fourth runner-up.
The semi-finalists were 2018 fourth runner-up Marlee Jones and first-time contestants Lillie Callihan, Madeleine Stringer, Isabella Stubblefield, Gaven Waldrop, Kacey Wallace, and Hannah Wilbourn. I must give a shoutout to Gaven for rocking of the most gorgeous gowns I have seen so far this pageant season, it was an amazing iridescent purply-blue colour and was mesmerising under the lights, absolutely stunning!
