Nydelis Ortiz is a Castleton State College senior double majoring in Spanish for Business and Spanish Language and Literature with a minor in business administration. She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and will graduate from college, receiving two bachelor¡¯s degrees, at the age of 20. She has interned at the Department of Homeland Security and one day hopes to be the owner of a business.
Nydelis is a native of Puerto Rico but moved to Vermont at the age of six. She enjoys partaking in the vast activities the state has to offer, including hiking, kayaking, and swimming. The avid lover of the outdoors also enjoys keeping active with a good workout at the gym, a run outside, or even a game of football.
Some of her hobbies include playing the violin, learning to play other instruments, watching movies with family and friends, and reading.

Miss Vermont USA 2009 (1st runner-up)
Nydelis is the sixth Miss VT USA in the last eleven years (& the fifth in the last eight years) who won the title one year after placing 1st runner-up. The others were Katherine Bolton (VT USA 00/1RU 99), Jennifer Ripley (VT USA 03/1RU 02), Michelle Fongemie (VT USA 04/1RU 03), Amanda Mitteer (VT USA 05/1RU 04) & Jessica Comolli (VT USA 07/1RU 06). Another Miss VT USA, Amanda Gilman, was 2RU the year prior to winning her title.
She is the Puerto Rican to win Miss VT USA in at least a decade - possible ever!
