MISS USA 2009 STATE PAGEANTS


Whilst a number of former Miss Teen USA state titleholders have competed at and won state Miss titles, this page is devoted to the Teen titleholders who competed in Miss USA state pageants in 2009.

Points of Interest
  • Thirty former Teens have competed so far or are expected to competed in upcoming state pageants. This is currently slightly above the rate of former Teens who competed in state pageants last year.
  • With close to half the state winners chosen, four former Teens have won state titles. This is again above the rate last year, when only five won titles across all fifty-one competitions.
  • The most successful teen "class" is the 2004. Three Miss Teen USA 2004 contestants have won 2009 titles: Anastagia Pierre (FL), Jessica McRaney (MS) Courtni Hall (IN).
  • Alysha Castonguay becomes the eighth of the class of 2002 to win a Miss USA state title, and the fourth semi-finalist from that year to do so.
  • Thirteen former teens have competed in Miss pageants for the first time.
  • Tami Farrell becomes the sixth former Miss Teen USA to compete for a Miss USA state title. Like former Miss Teen USA 1999 Ashley Coleman, she is competing not in her home state but at Miss California USA. Unlike many early 1990s Miss Teen USA winners who competed for and won state titles, Ashley and Tami are the only former Miss Teen USAs since 1997 to compete in the Miss division.
  • Niambi Powell ages out.
  • Annilie Hastey (FL) & Alyssa Campanella (NJ) become the first of the class of 2007 to compete in iss USA state pageants.
  • The Teen "classes" with the most Miss contestants this year are 2003 & 2006.
  • More former Teens competed in Maryland than any other state.
  • For the first time in recent years, two former Teens who had held titles in different states competed in Tennessee.

    Jacqueline Drakeford (District of Columbia) - 3rd runner-up at Miss District of Columbia USA 2009 (1RU 08)


    Ashley Hanson (Iowa) - 4th runner-up at Miss Iowa USA 2009 (T15 RI USA 08)


    Precious Grady (Maryland) - Non-finalist at Miss Maryland USA 2009 (T15 06)
