Biography
Brooke Daniels, who was named last year as one of the 25 most beautiful Houstonians by H-Texas Magazine, is a senior at Sam Houston State University. With plans to earn a masters degree and to pursue a career in television and film, Brooke is majoring in mass communications with a minor in radio and television, and she enjoys a career as a professional model.
Finding joy in helping others, Brooke supports various community and charitable organizations including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Ovarian Cancer Foundation's Sprint for Life, the Periwinkle Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Shriners Hospitals, and others. After witnessing the effects of Alzheimer's disease in her grandfather, Brooke has gained a particular interest in that disease and in supporting those who care for its victims.
The eldest of three children (her sister Cassidy was 3RU at Miss Texas Teen USA 2007), Brooke is family-oriented and likes to spend time at home reading, cooking, scrap booking, and playing with puppies, Houston and Charlie. For a good work-out, she trains with weights and takes long runs with her IPOD. Her other interests and activities are hunting, karaoke, and going to the movies. Atypically for a young woman her age, she hates spending time texting and chatting on her cell phone! Brooke's favorite sport is baseball, and her favorite piece of advice: "You can't hit a homerun unless you step up to the plate".

Notes
Brooke continues the streak that no newcomer has won Miss Texas USA since Valerie Ogilvie in 2000 (see the Texas state results). She is the second consecutive former first runner-up to win the title - six of the past eight winners had placed in the top five at some point prior to winning.
She is one of only two winners in the past twelve years to have competed in but not won the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant.
She is the eighth winner from the greater Houston area since 1999 - and the fourth winner in the past six years to have held the Miss Houston USA title at some point.
She is the first blonde winner since Tyler Willis in 2005 - Texas has now had only three blonde winners since 2000.
She is the first winner since 1998 to have worn a black gown. Somewhat unbelievable, every Miss Texas USA since 2000 has won in either a gold, silver, or white gown (Magen Ellis' fits the least into this pattern, but it was still neutral!)
