Courtney, a resident of Olathe, Kansas, is a 23-year-old graduate of the University of Missouri where she was a Missouri Bright Flight and MU Curators’ Scholar. She is a 2008 graduate of the Trulaske College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with intent on pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. While attending the University of Missouri Courtney was employed in the Mizzou Athletics’ Tiger Scholarship Fund serving as both the assistant to the Director of Special Events and intern to the Director of Athletic Development. She was involved on campus as the Philanthropy Chairman of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, being in charge of their Big Man on Court campus-wide event supporting youth literacy. Courtney also served as the sorority liaison for Mizzou’s Homecoming, Greek Week, and Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis events. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity where she served as the Homecoming Skit director. Courtney was selected as a member of the competitive, student-run Caring for Columbia Steering Committee for 2008 serving charity organizations throughout the Columbia area. Since graduation she has enjoyed working as a model with Elite Model Management, Voices&Models, and Arizona Model Management, with her very first booking gracing the cover of KC Magazine. Courtney has and will always support many charities in her free time and resources. Some of these charities include Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center, Champions Are Readers, Share Your Christmas, Links to Literacy, and The American Red Cross. In her free time, Courtney enjoys working out, playing & watching basketball, and watching horse racing. Courtney is the daughter of Dr. Gary and Cindy Courter of Lebanon, Missouri, where she and her family raised and showed cattle and horses for over 25 years. Although she is any only child she considers her wonderful dog, Mickie, as part of the family.
When asked why she chose to enter Miss Kansas USA, Courtney says, “I have always dreamed of having the chance to compete in Miss USA and there is only one way to get there! I felt that this was the perfect time in my life to enter Miss KS USA- I am a college graduate with an amazing, supportive family behind me so I knew I had to do it now while the time was right. Also, this was the right time for me because I feel like I finally know who I am. I know what I believe in and I know that I can be true to myself and show young women that you don’t have to compromise yourself to get ahead or to become Miss USA.”
