Michelle is a 2006 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and currently works for Global Nutrition. She was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish; however, she and her family relocated to Hammond, Louisiana post Katrina. Michelle is the daughter of Karen and Ken Berthelot and has two brothers Kenny and Stevie. Michelle set her goal to become Miss Louisiana USA many years ago and sees winning the title as an opportunity to visit new places, meet new people and represent the wonderful state of Louisiana at the Miss USA pageant.
Michelle stays busy as a fitness model, spokes-model, and personal trainer; and was recently named the spokes-model for the Global Nutrition Corporation. She is very passionate her program, �Healthy Choices = Healthy Lifestyle,�which she enjoys sharing with others as motivation to a healthy lifestyle. She also enjoys acting; and can be seen in several commercials and infomercials.
Michelle has a strong commitment to volunteering and community involvement and plans to work with many different causes during her year, including the �Lighten Up Louisiana�program, which motivates adults and kids towards healthier and more active lifestyles. She is an advocate for Cancer Awareness and Education because she believes that early detection can decrease the number of cancer-related deaths if people are screened early. Her passion for this cause stems from the loss of her childhood best friend to leukemia. Michelle also plans to travel throughout the state to educate the public in HIV/AIDS and other STD education and awareness, especially young people on college campuses. She will also be active in the rebuilding of St. Bernard Parish, her hometown, and surrounding areas, as there is still much work to be done and hopes the title will be a continued morale booster for the community.
When not working Michelle enjoys public speaking, exercising/working out, dancing, shopping, fishing, and spending time with her nieces. |
