Heather grew up with three brothers and was somewhat of a tomboy. She was involved in little league football with her brothers and even raised pigs! She competed in the Miss Utah 2001 pageant at the suggestion of her mother who wanted her to do something girly.
She is keen to educate young people about the perils of drug use as Brad, one of her brothers died in September 2005 from a drug overdose.
