Kay Elizabeth Tetreault, 17, from South Hadley, is a graduate of South Hadley High school. Passionate, energetic and driven, Kay has been an Honor Student for the past four years and belongs to both the National Honor Society and the Latin Honor Society. She is involved with a Peer Leaders group within her school that promotes a drug and alcohol free way of life, and is a member of the Drug and Alcohol Task force in her town. She was also a three year varsity athlete in her school for the Track and Cross-Country Team. For the past twelve years Kay has been an avid dancer for a competitive dance team at the Hackworth School of Performing Arts.
Kay is dedicated to getting involved in her community. By using her ability to motivate others, Kay leads her peers in the "Rays of Hope" walk toward the cure of breast cancer. Four years ago, Kay established an annual walking team and bake event for the month of October in order to raise awareness of this terrible disease. She is also involved with the "Give Kids the World Organization", and hosts an annual "Ice Cream Social" event at her high school. Last year she was given the opportunity to travel to Florida to present this organization with a $2,000 check. She is an advocate of advisory groups to help teens communicate with peers on the issue of stress at school. With her title Kay plans to also bring attention to the dangers of bullying throughout Massachusetts.
In the future she hopes to graduate from college with a degree in Nutrition, and to establish her own television show formatted for children and teens to instill the importance of proper nutrition and achieving a healthy lifestyle.
