Alexis was born on July 2nd, 1991 in Merriam, Kansas. Although she is a Kansan, she embodies the best of her Russian, Polish, Panamanian and Chinese ancestry and values. She recently graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and in the fall will be attending Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. She plans to major in Biology and would like to become a nurse practitioner. She is also slated to become a member of Lindenwood’s coed cheer team.
Alexis was awarded the Presidential Community Service Award for four consecutive years from Saint Luke’s Hospital, where she volunteers in the daycare as well as the hospital’s Mother and Baby Unit. She also has volunteered her time with the Touched by Cancer Foundation and TLC for children and families which is an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children. Even though Alexis has volunteered for various organizations, her most rewarding community service project was starting a special needs cheer program at the gym where she cheers. It has been particularly rewarding for her to be able to share her skills by teaching the sport.
From the time she was a child, Alexis has been very athletic. She has excelled in track, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, and cheerleading. Of all the sports in which she has competed in, her true passion has been cheerleading. She began cheering when she was eight years of age and has not stopped since. Like many people, Alexis never thought of cheerleading as a competitive sport, but in it she found athleticism, sportsmanship and the bond one develops as a part of a team in the pursuit of excellence. Like many, she initially struggled with the basic skills, but as time went by, Alexis’ determination, enthusiasm and perseverance propelled her in the sport. She has earned many cheerleading awards and honors, yet the one that she cherishes most is having been featured in “American Cheerleader Magazine.”
Alexis currently works part time at a market and survey research firm. In her spare time, she also enjoys modeling, texting, taking care of her brother AJ, cheerleading and working out.
Alexis’ would not be where she is today without the support of her own “cheer team”. Her mom, Vanessa Rewalt and her grandma “Kiki” are always there to offer her wisdom and support whenever she needs it. Her mom helps her pick out all of her outfits and Kiki helps her pick out the perfect shoes to match. Together they make the perfect team. Alexis’ MVP and fitness trainer is her father, Al Rewalt. He usually becomes more nervous than Alexis at every competition, but once it is over, he is the one that cheers the loudest. Alexis feels very blessed to have her family be such a wonderful support team and that has helped accomplish her many goals and dreams. Alexis’ favorite quote is “Focus on your dreams.”
