Krista graduated from Sandpoint High School and is planning on attending Washington State University majoring in communications/broadcasting, and minor in Business Management or Political Science. She's lived in Sandpoint for thirteen years, however, finding a place to settle down wasn't so easy! Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1989, Krista moved to Ceour d' Alene, ID, then College Place, PA, and finally in '92 to Sandpoint, ID where she's lived ever since.
Elementary school was a challenge for Krista as she went through some social hardships due to being out of place and one of the "chunky ones". These experiences ultimately sculpted her into the person that she is today. She always sticks up for, and defends the underdog, and resents those who bully.
During high school she really matured and began to "fit in", but still wasn't completely secure and ok with herself. Although she was content with her appearance, she wasn't certain as to who she was as a person, and who she wanted to be. She was happy, accepted, and a "good kid", but something was missing. Then, in the beginning of Krista's junior year, she went through what she considered the most important phase she'd ever gone through. With a burst of motivation, she decided to improve every aspect of her life. For the first time, she really applied herself in school, and raised her GPA from a 3.3 to a 4.17. She began exercising regularly, improved her relationship with God, found out and focused on who were her true friends, and ultimately gained an abundance of confidence.
Later that year, she competed in the local Junior Miss pageant and wow was that a great first experience! She was so honored to place in the Top 10 especially when there were so many other beautiful, talented, and aspiring girls in the competition. The pageant also really got her focused on being and doing her best which became her motivation behind all of her volunteer work. Krista now volunteers weekly at Head Start, and has come to care about the kids she works with SO much! Then Krista made the big jump to the USA Pageant system at the beginning of her senior year and not only did Krista become the new Miss Idaho Teen USA but she also won the prestigious Miss Congeniality award which says so much about a person!
Krista enjoys many activities and sports including basketball, volunteering, boating, jet skiing, wake boarding, working out, watching Seahawks games, hanging out with friends, and spending time with family. Her family means the world to her and is her number one priority. They're extremely close and their love and support for one another has been and continues to be the key to daily living.
"In my opinion, young girls today are in desperate need of positive female role models. My goal is to be a positive influence on others not just in words but also in action. I base my life strongly on my morals and values... two things that I think have become more and more neglected. I am committed to being the best person that I can be in hopes of influencing even one young girl for the better. And lastly, I will do everything I can to give our great state of Idaho recognition by bringing home the national title, MISS TEEN USAŽ 2007!" - Krista McNeal |
