Both prelims and finals for Miss Washington USA & Teen USA 2017 are on Sunday, with prelims at 12pm and finals at 3pm - quite ambitious for a pageant with 65 combined contestants! Miss contestant photos are posted here and Teen phtoos are here.
Washington is the only state left that has never crowned a former Teen USA state titleholder and it's rare for any to even compete - the most recent were Miss CA Teen USA 2010 Emma Baker who was a runner-up in 2014 and Miss WA Teen USA 2008 Mandy Schendel who was second runner-up in 2012 before going on to win Miss Washington and place at the top ten at Miss America. This year there are two former Teens back! Alex Carlson-Helo was Miss Washington Teen USA 2012 and would complete the impressive accomplishment of winning both titles on her first attempt were she to break the record; the other is Miss New Hampshire Teen USA 2010 Morgan Lucas who recently moved to Washington to study medicine. Morgan has already broken a record - as far as I am aware - or come very close to it, for competing in five different states. She started her pageant career at Miss FL Teen USA before winning the New Hampshire title, and has competed in Massachusetts and New York as a Miss contestant.
The only returning runner-up of the three left after last year's first runner-up Kelsey Schmidt assumed the Miss WA USA title is third runner-up Chael Stenchever. Geraldine Lirio was a semi-finalist last year and a runner-up in 2015. Three-time runner-up (four including Teen) Evelyn Clark is back competing in Washington after placing third runner-up in Oregon last year and past Idaho runner-up Christine Serb is competing in Washington for the first time, she most recently competed in California in 2015. Brenna Aguilar also has past experience in another state, she has competed a number of times in North Carolina.
In the Teen competition first runner-up Noelle Tapang, third runner-up Taylor Mann and fourth runner-up Sylvia Coulson are all back. Four of last year's semi-finalists, Carley Surina, Jesi Williams, Kathleen Crosby and Swarathmika Kakivaya and one from 2015, Kasey Hobson are competing again. Summer Keffeler is the sister of Stormy Keffeler who won last year's Miss WA USA title and was forced to resign in January.
