Until Sunday there had not been a titleholder in either division from Burlington, a town of about 2000 people outside Minot in the north of the state. In fact, it's rare enough to have either ND titleholder come from the north of the state. Now, in what I think is an awesome twist, there are not one but two from this small town!
Samantha competed previously in 2016 - her one and only prior attempt at the time - and finished as a semi-finalist. Caitlyn was competing for the first time this year.
All the contestants re-competed as semi-finalists on finals night.
In Teen, Sophia Richards repeated her first runner-up placement from last year - if she hasn't aged out I hope she doesn't let this phase her and that she comes back next year, as it was really hard to split this top two (I'm glad I wasn't judging!) and I think she would be great on the Miss Teen USA stage. Second runner-up was Elise Jacobson who moved up one spot on 2018 when she was 3RU. Third runner-up was 2018 non-finalist Gabriella Lilley and fourth runner-up went to newcomer Kaelyn Knox.
