Congratulations to Miss Louisiana USA 2017 Bethany Trahan from Lake Charles and Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2017 Hailey Crausby from LaCombe. Both competed in the 2016 pageant, with Bethany placing first runner-up to Maaliyah Papillion and Hailey making the top ten in the Teen competition. Hailey also won the Swimsuit award this year.
Whilst Louisiana has a history of experienced contestants winning the Miss title, the last returning 1RU to win was Page Pennock in 2011, and before her Candice Stewart in 2005. Hailey is the the fifth Teen winner in the past eight years who had been top ten the year before they won.

The entire Miss LA USA top five had either been a runner-up previously or won the Teen pageant. In her first attempt at the title, Miss LA Teen USA 2012 Marlee Henry placed first runner-up to Bethany. Second runner-up, for the second year in a row, was Miss Louisiana 2012 Lauren Vizza. Returning to the top five after two years was Devin Boyd, in her final year of competition, and she also won the Swimsuit award. Devin had been given the opportunity to compete this year due to the age extension. She has always been a sentimental favourite of mine and Devin, I'm so sad you didn't get that fairytale ending I was hoping for you. Fourth runner-up was Tanya Crowe, who had placed 3RU in 2015 before inexplicably missing the cut last year (I had her in my top five, I still can't figure that one out).

First runner-up in the Teen pageant was newcomer Lindsey Conque who represented Vermillion River and another newcomer, Miss Lafayette Shelby Jordan was third runner-up. 2015 & 2016 first runner-up Katie Scannell finished second runner-up this year. Fourth runner-up went to Kimberly Ducotte, a non-finalist last year.
