Miss Hawaii USA & Teen USA 2016 results recap

The Aloha state has crowned two new beauties for 2016 and for once we have a titleholder from an outer island!  Congratulations to Chelsea Hardin Miss Hawaii USA 2016 and Joahnnalee Ucol Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2016!  Joahnnalee, who recently turned 16, is from Kahului on Maui, and is the first Teen titleholder from Maui in at least two decades.  The only other outer-island titleholder in that time was Sonya Balmores, Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2004, from Kauai.  Chelsea is currently living in Honolulu but was born on Big Island.

First runner-up in the Miss competition was Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2010 Julianne Chu who likes competing in even years - 2RU in 2012, 2RU in 2014 and now her highest placement in 2016.  Second runner-up was Cierra Rausch, Miss Maui USA.  Third runner-up went to Ka'iulani Carr, who was also third runner-up in 2014.  Last year's second runner-up Meghan Akim placed fourth runner-up this year.  Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2011 Courtney Coleman made the top eight and won Miss Photogenic.

The entire top five in Teen were competing for the first time - there was only one returning contestant in the entire competition.  First through fourth runners-up were Bailey Lum, Marli Genegabuas, Jazmine Bazan and Kaitlyn Hitsman​ respectively.
