Hannah was competing for the fourth time. She was top 10 at Miss Alabama USA last year and a non-finalist at Miss Alabama Teen USA in 2017 & 2016.
Kalin was last year's first runner-up and is the sixth consecutive runner-up to return and win, a streak that is rare enough in any state in the Miss division but almost unheard of in Teen. It gets even crazier... she is the 14th blonde in the last 15 years to win the title! Since 2005, only one non-blonde has won the Miss Alabama Teen USA title. Kalin won the Interview award this year.
This year's top 10 included Madison Gilmore, who repeated her placement from last year; 2015 non-finalist and 2014 Mississippi semi-finalist Kristen Furr (winner of the Interview award); 2018 non-finalist Bayley Kennon and newcomer Nwando Anwah.
The top 16 were Miss AL Teen USA and two-time runner-up Barron Rae Williams, 2017 top 15 finalist Shannon-Elizabeth Taylor, first-time contestants Desharné Carroll, Kaylan Colvin and Maleia Gist and Presley Gifford, who was competing for the seventh time and who won the Gown award this year.
Miss Photogenic was awarded to non-finalist Rebekah Newton.
In Teen, first runner-up went to the only newcomer in the top five, Olivia Taylor. Second runner-up was Kennedy Whisenant, who has previously placed in the top 15 in 2017 & 2018. 2018 non-finalist Riley Madison Pasibe was third runner-up. Fourth runner-up was Alexis Fagan, who made history by becoming the first Teen to place in the top five of two state pageants in the same year. This year the rules were changed to allow contestants to compete in two states in the same state pageant season (previously contestants had to choose only one); Alexis is a student at the University of Alabama so was eligible to compete in both states. She had previously also placed fourth runner-up at Miss Michigan Teen USA in September.
This year's top 10 had 2018 second runner-up Addison Watts, 2018 top 10 finalist Chaney Anderton and newcomers Alison Hanna, Anaya McCullum and Katherine McIntyre.
The top 16 included Katelyn Kirby, who also made the top 15 in 2017, 2018 non-finalist Hannah Henderson, and first time contestants Sydni Anderson, Sara Herman and Sophia Schifanella.
Addison Watts was Miss Photogenic, Katherine McIntyre won Miss Congeniality and the Activewear award, and Anaya McCullum won the Gown award.
