Miss Missouri USA 2016 and Miss Missouri Teen USA 2016 will be crowned this weekend at Lindenwood University in St Charles. The new Missouri winners will be the second pair of new Vanbros titleholders for 2016. Contestants are posted on the Warriors for Ross site here - in Illinois earlier in the month, people's choice voting contributed more than $15,000 towards this worthy charity! Contestant numbers are up in both - between Miss and Teen there are over 120 contestants this year. In the Miss division the only returning runner-up is Miss MO Teen USA 2011 and 2015 second runner-up Sydnee Stottlemyre. I loved last year's top five so I'm disappointed more aren't back! 2015 Teen 3RU Kennedy Thomas and 4RU Hannah Beilman are competing in Miss this year for the first time, as is 2014 Illinois Teen runner-up Madison Langley and 2011 Illinois Teen runner-up Shenell Randall (there are two other Beilman's competing this year, Olivia and Samantha... sisters?). Lexy Kadey, third runner-up at Miss Colorado USA last year, and Teen runner-up in 2013, has returned to the state where she first competed as a Teen. Lexy is utilising her Lindenwood scholarship, and I'd interested to see how many other contestants are too. Also competing is Samantha Shackleford, 3RU at Miss MO Teen USA 2007 who last competed in Miss in 2011. There are two MO 2015 semi-finalists back: Tori Kruse (who has competed in Iowa previously) and Alexandria Spry. In Teen, first runner-up Dallas Ezard, daughter of Miss Missouri USA 1993 Stephanie Nunn Ezard, is competing again; she was also a semi-finalist in 2012. None of the other semi-finalists are back! There are a few returning non-finalists, including one who had competed in Colorado until this year (again, Lindenwood scholarship?), but for the most part this is an entirely fresh group of contestants. A huge congratulations are in order for Susie Leica, the new Miss Michigan USA 2016 and Unjaneé Wells, Miss Michigan Teen USA 2016! This is the first time in a long time that I have correctly predicted both winners, even if I forgot to vote for the "Road to" contest on USB (mega bummer). Susie was third runner-up in 2011 and a semi-finalist in 2012 but had not competed since then. Unjaneé was second runner-up in 2015 and fourth runner-up in 2014 - she is the first returning runner-up to win since Ruby King in 2013, and only the third returning RU to win in a decade! This is the first year since 2004 that both the Miss and Teen winners in Michigan are returning runners-up! Bar one, in both devisions every single contestant who made the top five this year had competed previously. In Miss, first runner-up went to 2014 semi-finalist Krista Ferguson. Second runner-up was Samantha Skowronek, who last competed as a Teen in 2009 alongside fourth runner-up Sarah Gerberding who has now been a runner-up four times. Third runner-up was Elizabeth Johnson who dropped back one spot from last year. Amongst the semi-finalists, Mari Doan got back amongst the top fifteen after two years as a non-finalist in Iowa. Kaiya Montague also avenged her non-finalist spot from last year, and 2015 Teen runner-up Stephanie Stavrou showed that age was no barrier to making the top fifteen. The Teen first and second runner-up spots went to 2015 semi-finalists Aria Hutchinson and Emily Finn respectively. Third runner-up was the only newcomer amongst the top fives, Alexis Fagan-Williams. Fourth runner-up was 2015 non-finalist Tiffney Cicotte. All but three of the rest of the top fifteen were newbies. There are 57 Teens in the competition this year, similar numbers to last year. Returning from the 2015 top five are second runner-up Brooke Garrison and fourth runner-up Grace Smith. There are six semi-finalists back: Daniela Albrecht, Bobbie Grace Barber, Jessica Brinson, Carolyn Munson, Chelsea Novoa, Tiffany Rivera. Click here to see the pics - and scroll down for a text version of the complete contestant roster. Miss contestant numbers have dropped from 84 last year to 70 this year but I think the high percentage of returning contestants is a great reflection on the quality of programme Melissa and her team run. Teen has gone from 46 to 37. Most notably 2015 first runner-up Sarah Gerberding is back. Last year's 2015 was a tough one because it put Sarah, at that point a two-time Teen runner-up (consecutively, as well!) next to Rashontae Wawrzyniak, a three-time Miss runner-up including 1RU in 2014. As we know Rashontae took the title - all the way to top ten at Miss USA! - but I am so glad to see Sarah competing again this year! In addition to Sarah, 2015 Miss runners-up Elizabeth Johnson (2RU) and Laura Esqueda (4RU) and 2015 Teen 3RU Stephanie Stavrou are all competing for Miss MI USA (there are seven 2015 Teens in the Miss competition this year!). Another whose inclusion has excited me is Susie Leica. Susie was a runner-up in 2011 and a semi-finalist in 2012 but has not competed since. I absolutely loved her both years (was shocked she didn't make top five her second year) but assumed we wouldn't be seeing her on the stage again... glad she's having another crack at it. Similarly, I'm very happy to see Carla Francavilla, who was also a semi-finalist in 2012 but has not come back since then. Competing for the first time in Michigan is Mari Doan, a former Iowa contestant who has now completed her medical degree (beauty AND brains!) and is now a resident physician in Warren. In the Teen division, 2015 second runner-up & 2014 fourth runner-up Unjanee' Wells is the only runner-up competing again. There are quite a few semi-finalists from last year back, and a lot of very promising looking newbies. 2016 contestants marked with asterisks below: As for who isn't competing? Sad not to see Miss MI Teen USA 2011 Taylor Sherman (Semi-finalist 2015) back this year! Of Michigan's former Teen titleholders, only Taylor through to Iris Robare (2014) are now eligible after a run of weddings over the past year! Congratulations to Raquel McClendon (MI Teen USA 2006), Caitlin Klug (MI Teen USA 2007), Elizabeth Hawthorne (MI Teen USA 2008) and Catherine McGhee (MI Teen USA 2010). Some gorgeous wedding photos can be found on the Michigan Titleholder History page.

Autumn Olson is the new Miss Wyoming USA, the third of four 2013 Teens who have competed so far this year to win their state title. Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2016 is Shelly McRoberts, a first-time contestant who is a freshman at BYU in Provo. Autumn is 21 and from Saratoga; Shelly is 18 and the first Wyoming titleholder from Kemmerer, a small town in the southwest of the state. First runner-up in the Miss division was Lexi Revelli, now a four-time runner-up, who was second runner-up to Autumn at Miss WY Teen USA 2013. Second runner-up was Whitney Haugen, a non-finalist in Colorado last year. Unfortunately Whitney has aged out, as I think she would make a really strong rep for Wyoming at Miss USA - I don't remember her from last year but she quickly became a favourite tonight. Third and fourth runners-up were both newcomers: Julia Rose (who has MAO experience but has never competed in the USA system) and Hope Golgart. Two of the contestants on the original roster did not compete, leaving only 14 in the competition... so they were all announced as semi-finalists. In Teen, all four runners-up from last year made the top five again, and all finished in different spots to last year! Autumn Schieferstein jumped from third runner-up to first runner-up, Jacey Phipps improved from fourth runner-up to second, Holly Harrington swapped places with Autumn, going from first runner-up to third and Mackenzie Kern, 2RU last year, placed fourth runner-up. Sydney, who is from Moscow in Latah County, was first runner-up in 2014 and fourth runner-up last year. Third time was the charm. Kate is from Boise. Click their names to view their titleholder profiles. "Sydney, 21, is a senior honors student at the University of Idaho majoring in clothing, textiles and design with an emphasis in marketing. She feels fortunate to have been adopted at a young age into a loving family that instilled in her compassionate virtues and a strong work ethic. Sydney hopes to use the Miss Idaho, USA platform to support and publicize adoption advocacy initiatives. Mahatma Gandhi encouraged us to "be the change you wish to see in the world." Sydney aims to do exactly that." "Growing up in a special needs household, Kate has been involved in the special needs community her entire life. Through her involvement she has also contributed to an organization known as Camp Rainbow Gold for cancer patients and siblings. Kate is a member of the National Honor Society, and now as a senior maintains a 3.9 GPA. She has spent the past 4 years working at her local mountain as a Ski Instructor, teaching and learning from the 3-6 year olds. In her free time, Kate enjoys traveling, skiing and cheering on her Capital High School Eagles." Unusually the top three in the Miss division were all from northern Idaho. First and second runner-up spots went to newcomers Ashley DeBoer of Coeur D'Alene and Cassie Lewis of Moscow respectively. Third runner-up was Ashley Southern, Miss Idaho's Outstanding Teen 2012 and Claira's first runner-up at Miss ID Teen USA 2011. Miso Jang, first runner-up at Miss ID USA last year, dropped to fourth runner-up this year. At first I felt really sad for Miso, but then it hit me that's exactly what happened with Sydney, and look what position she's in this year! Miss Nevada Teen USA 2010 Audrey Denison finished in the top nine. In Teen, 2015 second runner-up Amanda Kelly repeated her placement. The rest of the top five were all newcomers. The final show will start at 4pm MT, webcast here. As with Idaho, Miss contestant numbers are significantly lower this year dropping from 26 to 16, but Teen is up six. The Miss competition is missing a lot of recent delegates - for a state that has a reputation for having many returning runners-up annually, this is a fairly fresh group. Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2013 Autumn Olson is back already, hoping to join her 2013 Future Productions "sister" Kate Redeker, the new Miss WI USA, in the Miss USA 2006 roster. The only returning Miss runner-up is Lexi Revelli, also a runner-up in 2014 and second runner-up to Autumn in Miss WY USA 2013. The Teen competition is a different story - all four runners-up are back! They are Holly Harrington (1RU 15), Mackenzie Kern (2RU), Autumn Schieferstein (3RU) and Jacey Phipps (4RU, also 3RU in 2014). Click "read more" or scroll below to view the full list of contestants.
Miss Idaho USA & Miss Idaho Teen USA 2016 will be crowned this Saturday in Boise, with finals starting at 3pm MST. I have loved following Claira & Chaise's year as ID titleholders and will be sad to see them go. Numbers are down in both divisions this year - six fewer in Miss and three fewer in Teen. In the Miss division, the first runners-up from the past two years are back: Miso Jang was 1RU to Claira and Sydney Halper was 1RU to Yvette Bennett in 2014 (as well as 4RU last year). Miso was also a runner-up at Miss Idaho a couple of months ago. Claira's Teen 1RU Ashley Southern, a past Miss Idaho's Outstanding Teen, is competing in Miss for the first time. Audrey Denison Miss NV Teen USA 2010 is back for the first time - she just recently finished an 18 month LDS mission and now attends BYU-Idaho. This is clearly a transition year in Teen with only one returning runner-up: Amanda Kelly who was 2RU last year. Other than Amanda the only returnees are two non-finalists from 2015. 2016 contestants marked with asterisks: Click "read more" or scroll down to view the full list of contestants.
Congratulations to Kate Redeker, the new Miss Wisconsin USA 2016 and Karly Knaus, Miss WI Teen USA 2016! {click their names to view their titleholder profiles} No stranger to the pageant stage, Kate was Miss Wisconsin Teen USA 2013 and a semi-finalist at Miss Teen USA - she is the second 2013 Teen to win this year, no small feat considering we only have six titleholders thus far! Karly was a semi-finalist in the 2015 Teen pageant. First runner-up in the Miss division was newcomer Tyra McFarland; fourth runner-up Sara Spaulding was also competing for the first time. Second runner-up Heidi Golznig has now been a runner-up three times in Miss and once in Teen, and third runner-up Teaka Griesbach made the top five in Miss for the first time after two runner-up Teen placements. To my great surprise, Victoria Sorone Johnston, Miss WI Teen USA 2011 and a three-time Miss runner-up, did not make the top five this year (this is only her second time in nine pageants that she hasn't made the top five); neither did other former runners-up Carolyn Cianciolo and Cassandra Besaw (I thought Cassandra was right up there this year too!) The Teen top five was one of the best and most even top fives I have seen in any pageant I have ever watched! I am *really* glad I wasn't a judge because it was near impossible to split them. Other than Karly, the only returning contestant in this year's top five was Brittany Georgia, 2RU last year. 2015's fourth runner-up Grace Mackey-Natz was a semi-finalist this year. The show starts at 4pm CST and will be webcast here (Future Productions run their own webcasts & the quality is great!). Numbers for both groups are down on 2015. Three of last year's runners-up are back in the Miss division: Heidi Golznig (1RU 2015, 2RU 12, 1RU WI Teen USA 2009), Carolyn Cianciolo (2RU 2015 & 2014, and a runner-up in Missouri in 2013), and former Miss WI Teen USA 2011 Victoria Sorone who has been a runner-up the past three years. Victoria isn't the only former Teen competing: Kate Redeker, Miss WI Teen USA 2013 and a semi-finalist at Miss Teen USA, is competing in Miss for the first time. Kate's first runner-up Teaka Griesbach, also a Teen runner-up in 2014, is vying to be the second Miss WI's Outstanding Teen to win Miss WI USA. 2014 runner-up Cassandra Besaw, Miss Photogenic three In Teen, second runner-up Brittany Georgia and fourth runner-up Grace Mackey-Natz are back, as are semi-finalists Morgan Hillmann, and Karly Knaus.
